One of the most important medical advances in history is the discovery of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) – a complex network of receptors and signaling molecules (Endocannabinoids) found throughout the bodies of every mammal on Earth--- including dogs and cats. Discovered in Israel in the 1990’s the ECS helps maintain a balanced state of health and well-being across multiple systems of the body, including the neurological, cardiovascular, skin, respiratory, immune, gastrointestinal and musculoskeletal systems. Although the body produces some of its own endocannabinoids, these lipid-based based chemicals tend to break down rapidly, requiring support from outside of the body in the form of phytocannabinoids. Phytocannabinoids are found in variety of foods and herbs, such as carrots, hops, oregano, clove and black pepper, to name a few. But the greatest concentrations of phytocannabinoids are found in the stalks of non-psychotropic varieties of Cannabis sativa L. ; “Industrial Hemp”. Many ECS support products on the market today obtain their Cannabis from multiple sources and employ various techniques of chemical manipulation to either take away psychotropic tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) or add in additional phytocannabinoids, such as CBD. Not ours. The hemp we use is from a single, USA-based supplier that oversees the entire process of growing and producing the finest, phytocannabinoid-rich plants in Northern Europe. Only seed-bank certified, genotyped strains of low THC, high phytocannabinoid (CBD, CBG, CBDa) plants are used to produce hemp extracts that are rich in naturally occurring phytocannabinoids.

Hemp Leaf Tincture
Designed to support healthy modulation of the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), Veterinarian’s Apawthecary Hemp Leaf formula is made from pedigreed cultivars of Cannabis sativa L. that are bred to produce high levels of non-psychotropic cannabinoid constituents, with less than 0.2% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); the active component of “recreational” Cannabis that is known for its euphoric effects.
The plants we use are non-GMO and are grown without pesticides in fields that are rotated with organic herbs and vegetables, in Netherlands and Germany. The whole plants are harvested and stripped of all fresh leaves and flowers, which are then immediately cleaned and juiced using proprietary equipment that is specifically designed for this purpose. The raw juice is then freeze-dried, packaged and exported to the USA under very strict regulatory controls as a human food ingredient. The product is approved for import by the FDA and does not carry any issues of interstate transport and distribution, as might otherwise be a problem if the plants were grown and processed in the USA. In other words, it is perfectly legal.
After receiving the freeze-dried juice powder at our facility in Phoenix, Arizona it is reconstituted into a strong concentrate before being preserved with pure, sweet-tasting vegetable glycerin. The result is a highly palatable liquid extract that retains most of the healthy natural components of raw, fresh hemp plants. This product is rich with naturally occurring phytocannabinoids, including impressive amounts of cannabidiolic acid (CBDa), the precursor to cannabidiol (CBD) that is found only in the fresh plant. CBDa will convert into CBD when heated (decaboxylated), but the purpose of this formula is to retain a more complete representation of what this amazing plant has to offer.
